A resurgent the Russian player secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from March of that year.

The win also indicates he has secured 21 championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on court had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an better service.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to force a decider.

He defended four initial break points in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
