Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure stated the attack made him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
